New Norfolk based charity, Davenport Trust takes its name from Shaun Davenport, a bright seventeen year old who tragically took his own life in January 2003. Shaun was suffering from depression, but at the time of his death neither he nor any of his friends, family or teachers had detected it.
The trust was set up by James Clarke, a prominent Norfolk author, composer and film director who knew Shaun well.
The aim of the charity is to help young people, their parents, siblings and friends to spot the key warning signs which indicate depression in a person. Eventually the trust hopes to set up a treatment centre for sufferers and their families.
The Davenport Trust will also be working with other charities in the field, ensuring a coordinated approach. |
Tiny’s Atlantic Row is raising funds to assist the charity in meeting its aim.
