astutech ltd - website software designers

astutech produced this website using their latest small business website design software, wordserver™ 2.0.

The ready made design and user-friendly administration system enables small businesses and individuals to create and maintain a professional, search engine friendly, website without the need to learn new technical skills. Perfect for busy company owners and ocean rowers alike!

You can update a wordserver™ website from anywhere you have a suitable browser (IE 5.5+) and Internet connection, even in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!

If you need a good looking, low-cost website that you maintain yourself, or a bespoke design by astutech, please mention this project when you contact them (or quote dt01). Your order will trigger a further cash donation to the Davenport Trust. [ + ]

Swayzee Park

Andy Cook set up Swayzee Park in the back garden of his terraced house in Norwich for the Euro 2004 finals in Portugal.

The venue was a scaffold construction 40-seater stadium facing a large television screen, and they invited donations to our cause. The Cooks raised a total of £1,222 and had a brush with UEFA's lawyers for their trouble. [ + ]

All was amicably resolved however and Andy and his brothers John and Tony continued to raise funds for Tiny's Atlantic Row and the Davenport Trust.

Anglia Vinyl Art

Anglia Vinyl Art will produce all the sponsor's adhesive vinyl graphics that will adorn my boat on the row. The company's usual specilisation includes motorcycles and vans, and Womble is a great showcase for their versatile talents.

For more information about adhesive vinyl graphics contact Mac on 01603 631335.

Sportspark

When I first had the idea to row, I knew I needed help with physical preparation. I approached David Cosford of the human performance centre and he immediately took on the job and gave me a comprehensive programme which is ongoing. The Sportspark are at the University of East Anglia and have an olympic size pool and a dazzling array of sports facilities. The staff are very friendly and know their stuff. [ + ]

Nutri-tacticS

Anna Suckling is an Accredited Sports Dietitian and her advice has played a major role in my preparation. Using Government set healthy eating guidelines Anna aims to meet clients' nutritional needs using a 'food first' approach. Her website has more information. [ + ]

Phil's Fiats

Phil took the Womble, my ocean rowing boat, into his garage (having turned out two Fiats which were under his expert care, to make space) and in a few days transformed her with the magnificent paint job you see today. All work was kindly donated to the cause.

The Fat Cat

Colin and Marge Keatley from the Fat Cat pub in Norwich made a substantial cash donation which will help to buy vital safety equipment for my Atlantic row.

The couple run the most successful real ale pub in the region which has recently been voted CAMRA Regional Pub of the Year 2004, for the second time in six years. The last time the Fat Cat won this award they went on to win the Super-Regional award and then became National Pub of the Year and has many other awards to its name.

Colin and Marge have always been good friends and great supporters. [ + ]

Portal Voice and Data Limited

These wonderful people are providing me with a Panasonic toughbook, a water, dust, heat, shock and vibration resitant laptop computer which will withstand the rigours of the journey and allow me to communicate with the outside world and update my web site.

Contact Portal on 01603 785301. [ email ]

Argos

French company Argos specialise in platform location and scientific data collection and the Argos system will be tracking my progress and sending it to the website daily.

The ocean row tracking service is offered at a discounted price and very well their system works too. I carry two beacons with a battery life of ninety days. [ + ]

Ben Nagy

Ben has been the project's 'David Bailey'. The latest photographs of my ocean rowing boat, Womble, were taken by Ben in October when we took the boat for testing along the River Yare from Great Yarmouth to Norwich.

Honourable mentions

Thanks to Griffin Marine for the launch as we took Womble for testing on the Norfolk Broards, and the well wishers I have encountered along the River Yare.
